Junior High (6th-8th grade): EDGE
Our Junior High program aims to provide exciting and unique educational and service experiences that help our youth grow in their faith. After sitting in a classroom all day, the last thing junior high students want to do is sit some more. Our program strives for each student to be engaged. So let’s get active!
We combine our 6th, 7th, and 8th grade students each class session for large group and small group service and catechetical programming. A typical Wednesday evening looks like this:
- GATHER: Welcome everyone and new comers, celebrate birthdays, opening prayer & games
- PROCLAIM: Scripture reading & teaching/presentation
- BREAK: Small group discussion & activity
- SEND: Small groups presentation, closing prayer & weekly challenge to live the faith.
These activities reinforce the large group talk through the multiple intelligence (art, mental and physical games, music, small group discussion, theater, etc.).
In addition to covering specific catechetical topics, one Wednesday a month we focus on the Works of Mercy by collecting non-perishable food for the Waconia Food Shelf. We also do one large service activity each year.
Volunteer with our Youth Formation Programs
We need many, many volunteers to run our youth formation programs.
