Eucharistic Adoration

Adoration is a quiet time spent in prayer before Jesus, who is present in the Eucharist. A consecrated host is placed in the center of a sacred vessel, called a monstrance. The word monstrance means “to show.” The monstrance is then set in a very special place for all to see and worship Jesus. He is present – body, blood, soul, and divinity in the consecrated host, or Blessed Sacrament.

This hour you spend with Jesus in the Blessed Sacrament may be spent in any way you want in keeping with the items listed below:

• Enter the Charity Chapel in quiet and show reverence. Please arrive promptly at your shift. This will allow the present adorer to depart knowing the next shift is properly covered.
• Most people will want to adore our Lord in their own way. This is a quiet time, be respectful of the reverent space in the chapel.
• Please refrain from eating in the chapel.
• Do NOT leave the Blessed Sacrament unattended.
• If a visitor arrives at the chapel that is not scheduled, please do not assume they will stay for the entire hour. Remain at the chapel until the next scheduled adorer has come to worship.
  • A list of scheduled adorers is available from the Eucharistic Adoration Coordinator.
• Parents are encouraged to bring their children. Jesus said, “Let the little children come to me.” This is a wonderful time to teach little ones reverence and love of Jesus in the Blessed Sacrament.

Committing to a scheduled hour each week helps us be accountable in building the prayer into our routine. Life will often present us with excuses for why we can’t commit. The feelings of “I’m too tired” or “I’m too busy” are going to happen. When I go to my hour feeling busy or overwhelmed, I find that my stress dissipates, and my resolve is renewed. I face the tasks at hand better having reminded myself that God is with me. Committing to a weekly hour helps me fight past the excuses and get to my hour with Jesus.

   • Select “Weekly Commitment” and select an available hour that works for you every week.
2. Please email adoration@stjosephwaconia.org or call the Parish Office at 952-442-2384 to be put in contact with the Adoration Coordinator.
