Located downstairs in the Parish Center (St. Junipero Serra Room, to the left of the projector screen).
The St. Joseph Parish Library strives to provide Catholic information and inspiration to our faith community.
What’s available in the Parish Library?
In our Parish Library, there are many items available to be borrowed, including Bibles, DVDs, CDs, and books for adults, teens, and children.
The items are arranged by subject category. The subject categories are listed on the website and in a binder by the checkout box (in the Parish Library). The book categories are arranged primarily by shelves, alphabetically, around the room. Oversized coffee table books are on a separate shelf. There are also special books dedicated to St. Joseph Catholic Community parish history and collections of past bulletins. These historical items are available for your reference, but we ask that they remain in the Parish Library. A separate shelf has the DVDs and CDs on it, along with a few games available for group activities. Pamphlets, rosaries, and holy cards are available for you to take and keep.
How can I check out items from the Parish Library?
Our collection can be viewed in the online catalog system called LibraryThing from a home computer or any device connected to the internet. You can search our catalog using LibraryThing, but you cannot use it to check availability, reserve, renew, check out, or donate a book. Our checkout is done manually, in the library.
For more information on how to use LibraryThing, read our Parish Library Manual.
The Parish Library is open any time the Church is open. We use a self-checkout, honor system, and instructions are posted in the Parish Library. Inside each book is a checkout card. Please put your name, the date, and your phone number on the checkout card. Then place the checkout card in the checkout box. Items may be checked out for 3 weeks.
The Parish Library is also a conference room. If it is in use, please return items to the box outside the door.
Donations
We gladly accept donations of Catholic books, DVDs, or CDs that are in good condition. Items will be reviewed to decide which materials we can use in our collection. Any donated items that we cannot use will either be donated to another source or sold to purchase other Parish Library materials.
